Sewing machines are provided to the poor or widowed neo-literates who are attending the literacy classes regularly. This enable the impoverished women to support their families and contribute to their community. Recipients are able to pay debt, improve their living conditions, provide daily meals for their family, and send their children to school. During the pandemic many women who received sewing machines, sewed facial masks and distributed to their community.
In order to transform the identified villages with the huge problem of water scarcity bore wells are dug partnering with the local bodies. Wells give clean water for drinking, help prevent waterborne disease and pollution, and improve personal hygiene. The villagers live a healthy and happy life.
The neo-literates and neo-learners become agents of transformation for their village as
- Students learn forestry and hundreds of trees are planted to help the ecosystem.
- Students form small groups for saving money and working together in dairy, agriculture, and other micro-enterprises.
- Women become involved in village politics and many women begin earning income for the first time.
